By BBN Staff: The “Maya: Hidden World’s Revealed” exhibit is moving to the Fernbank Museum of Natural History in Atlanta, Georgia.
The exhibition design was led by the Science Museum of Minnesota, in partnership with the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, the Museum of Science, Boston, the San Diego Natural History Museum and the National Institute of Culture and History (NICH).
The exhibition includes over 200 artifacts from Belize and museum collections from across the United States of America.
The exhibition is being installed by Science Museum of Minnesota conservator; Rebecca Newberry and the National Institute of Culture and History; archaeologist Sylvia Batty.
The Maya exhibit will be on display from the 13th of February through the 9th of May and is open to the general public.
Visitors to the museum will learn how the Maya built towering temples and created an intricate calendar system while discovering what archaeologists have uncovered about the once-hidden ancient Maya and the unresolved questions about why these ancient cities declined so rapidly.
Since 2013, the exhibit has traveled to Museums across America bringing Belize and the world of the Maya to visitors.
