Minister of Public Utilities tours American Sugar Refining facilities

By BBN Staff: Minister of Public Utilities, Energy and Logistics, Rodwell Ferguson went on a tour of the American Sugar Refining (ASR) facilities at the Belize Sugar Industries and, adjacent, the Belize Cogeneration Energy Limited (BELCOGEN).

The Ministry says that the purpose of the tour was to get first-hand knowledge of the sugar industry and accompanying electricity generation facility from bagasse.

Ferguson met with the staff and principals of ASR to discuss future collaboration in the energy sector.

BELCOGEN is an important partner in the energy sector as they provide on average 10% of electricity supply to the national grid.

Ferguson was accompanied by Marconi Leal Jr, Chief Executive Officer, and Ryan Cobb, Energy Director in the Ministry.
