Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Central American Integration System and United Nation High Commissioner for Refugees meet

Courtenay highlighted that the COVID-19 pandemic presents new and exacerbated challenges for refugees and the national systems that protect them.

He called for urgent, resource-driven humanitarian and development cooperation to strengthen the region’s response.

Courtenay specifically reported on Belize’s related priorities, challenges, and continued performance to advance its obligations to prevailing international humanitarian and refugee accords.
