By BBN Staff: Today, a budget consultation was held with the National Trade Union Congress of Belize (NTUCB) in Belmopan.
The discussions were led by Cordel Hyde, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources, Petroleum and Mining; Francis Fonseca, Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Technology; and Henry Charles Usher, Minister of the Public Service, Constitutional and Political Reform.
Luis Martinez, president, and members Ella Waight, Garry Yearwood, Timothy Dami, and Hubert Enriquez, represented the NTUCB.
Consultations were also held on Thursday with the Belize National Teachers’ Union (BNTU) and the Association of Public Senior Service Managers (APSSM).
The BNTU was represented by Elena Smith, president, and members Jorge Mejia, Ruth Shoman, and Keesha Young Flowers. Chief Magistrate Sharon Frazier, president, and members Beverly Wade, Alma Gomez, Andre Cho, and Jose Trejo, represented the APSSM.
Government noted that the meetings with the BNTU, APSSM and NTUCB were all productive and focused on meaningful ways of working together to find practical, equitable solutions to the critical financial situation facing the nation.
