By BBN Staff: Today, the Mayoral and councilor candidates for Benque Viejo Town were nominated.

Outgoing UDP Mayor Marconi Sosa is not seeking re-election.

Mayoral candidate for the UDP is Miguel Guerra. UDP councillor candidates include Alvaro Gongora, Charles Ponce, Miguel Gonzalez, Manuel Contreras, Abilio Leon Jr. and Jose Guerra.

Contesting for the PUP is Mayoral candidate, Jorge Rosales and councillor candidates, Terry Alvarado, Oscar Gongora, Avelin Martinez, Edgar Cocom, Vania Garcia and Carlos Iglesias.

The town council elections in Benque have traditionally gone red since 2006. Mayor Sosa has managed to win 5 consecutive elections.
