Police to charge driver in Arita Vanzie fatal road accident

By Aaron Humes: Police are getting set to charge the driver in the single-car accident that killed Roaring Creek woman Arita Vanzie, 25, last week.

A total of four persons were injured when the vehicle ran off the road on the Hummingbird Highway just outside of Dangriga a week ago. Vanzie was flung on the road and died almost immediately; the other persons, with varying degrees of injury, have been treated and released from hospital.

The driver has been served with notice of intended prosecution and police are awaiting post-mortem examination results on Vanzie to levy charges.

Samples to ascertain any level of intoxication on the part of the driver have been taken, but police are for now working on the theory of speeding being the primary factor in the crash.
