By Aaron Humes: A man and a woman were shot this afternoon at the corner of Plues and Bishop Streets, not far from downtown Belize City.

Police headed to the area around 2:30 p.m., then to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where they found 31-year-old Janine Lamb with injuries to her right buttocks and above her right ankle, and 38-year-old Eugene Thompson, with gunshot injuries to the right side of the neck, right pinky finger, right calf area, left thigh, left knee, and left hand. Both are reported in stable condition.

According to police, Thompson was fixing his bike on Plues Street about 15 minutes earlier when he and Lamb were approached by a fair-skinned man riding a ladies’ frame beach cruiser bicycle.

Police have issued medico-legal forms to the pair as their investigations continue.
