Ministry of Health and Wellness: No COVID-19 deaths in 6 days

By BBN Staff: As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect millions around the world and globally, people continue to host virtual events, and in Belize, confirmed cases seem to be down in the last few days.

Data from the Ministry of Health and Wellness indicates that there have been no COVID-19 related deaths in the last 6 days.

In addition, confirmed cases of the virus seem to be on a downward trend.

Looking at data from February 11th to 16th, we note that the daily positivity rate remains low.

On February 11, of 630 tests done, 7 cases were identified.

Of the 666 tests conducted on February 12, 20 new cases were detected.

Of the 165 tests done on February 13, 11 new cases were identified.

The data for Sunday, Valentine’s day was issued on Monday, February 15. Of those 596 tests done, 30 new cases were identified.

The latest numbers for Tuesday, show that of the 421 tests done,13 returned positive.

However, the public is reminded that the virus is transmitted by people.

The Ministry continues to urge the public to sanitize often, wash hands regularly, maintain social distancing and avoid all non essential travel.
