Police: Several possible motives suspected in Floyd Carter Jr. murder

Posted: Wednesday, February 17, 2021. 4:32 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Police said today that there may be several possible reasons as to why Floyd Carter Jr. was killed in Lord’s Bank last night.

Officers say that Carter was walking on Serosi Street with his brother-in-law when he was ambushed, chased down, and shot several times.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Alejandro Cowo of the Eastern Division Crimes Investigation Branch, said that Carter Jr. was the intended target of a shooting back in November 2020, which claimed the life of his father Floyd Carter Sr. Cowo said the issue that sparked that shooting, which is still under investigation, is being looked at as one possible motive.

Cowo also said that there is a possibility that Carter could have been killed as a result of a domestic dispute with his girlfriend in Lord’s Bank, whose house he was leaving when he was shot.

“He had previously had some dispute with the common-law wife or girlfriend and he was detained by police and was later released because the female did not make a complaint,” Cowo said. “That is one of the leads we are following as that can be a possible motive as to why he was shot.”

Police have since detained two persons in connection with the incident, as investigations continue.
