Posted: Thursday, February 18, 2021. 2:16 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: On February 15, officials from the Department of Youth Services (DYS) met with personnel from the Mexican Embassy to discuss opportunities for young Belizeans.

Among the discussions was talk of training and scholarship opportunities in Mexico for Belizeans.

The DYS says that their On-the-Job Skills Training service was mentioned as an opportunity to have young apprentices carry out their practical in Mexico in the fields of cosmetology, food preparation and hospitality management.

In addition, they discussed the possibility of providing scholarship opportunities for in house staff members in the areas of psychology and sociology.

This will facilitate proper credentials in the newly offered service area, counseling.

Present at the meeting were Ministry of Youth Director, Kevin Cadle, acting deputy Director, Marlenie Hernandez, and Maria Garrido of the Mexican Embassy.
