Belize Met Service: Cold front is here and so is the rain

A cold front will cross the country later today, says the National Meteorological Service (Belize Met Service).

Skies will become cloudy with a few showers and isolated thunderstorms starting inland at first, then increasing and spreading to most places this afternoon. Variably cloudy and cool conditions will prevail with a few showers, periods of rain, and isolated showers lingering over the south and offshore tonight.

Winds are from the north-northeast, at 10 to 20 knots; sea state is choppy. The small craft warning will be reinstated tonight for gusty winds and rough seas in large swells. Operators of small crafts are advised to seek safe harbor.

High temperatures: 84 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast, 88 degrees inland, and 74 in the hills; tonight, a chilly 68 degrees along the coast, 62 inland, and 58 in the hills.

Tides are low as of 8:47 a.m. and will be again at 10:56 p.m. and high at 2:49 p.m.

The sun rose at 6:17 a.m. and will set at five minutes to six.

For Saturday and Saturday night, variably cloudy and cool with a few showers and periods of rain developing over the southern districts during the evening into tonight.
