Prison guard out on bail following an assault charge

By BBN Staff: Rennick Baizar, a 37-year-old prison guard from Belize City, was granted bail in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court this week, after being charged with aggravated assault with a machete.

Allegations are that on Saturday, February 20, 2021, he intentionally and unlawfully caused an aggravated assault upon Mark Augustine Sacasa with a machete.

There was no objection to bail by the prosecutor, Corporal Hilberto Ruiz who only asked the court to set conditions to Baizar’s bail. The Court granted bail in the sum of $3,000 plus one surety of the same to Baizar with conditions in which he was ordered to stay away from the virtual complainant and to not interfere with the victim in any way whether directly or indirectly or his bail could be revoked.

Rennick Baizar is due back in court on April 22, 2021.
