University of Belize’s student government to host Mayoral debate in Punta Gorda

The University of Belize’s Student Government at the Punta Gorda campus has organized and will host a virtual Mayoral debate in Punta Gorda.

The three Mayoral candidates vying in the upcoming municipal election have agreed to participate in the debate that will be held this evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

The debate will be shown live on the official University of Belize Facebook page as well as the UB Student Government for Punta Gorda Campus 2019-2020 Facebook page.

The student government says that the event was conceptualized and organized as a means of encouraging student participation in elections and promoting more social responsibility among university students.

The participants in tonight’s debate are:

Marcel Palma of the Belize Progressive Party; Charles Selgado of the People’s United Party; and Hansel Warrior of the United Democratic Party.

Professor Emeritus, President of the University of Belize, Dr. Clement Sankat, will open the evening and the debate will be moderated by UB History Major, Aleesi Chun.

The university community congratulates its Punta Gorda student President Indira Coleman and Vice President Maclovio Ack for leading the planning committee in the elaboration of this noble event.
