PM Briceno visits Belmopan ahead of Municipal Elections

Posted: Thursday, February 25, 2021. 10:43 am CST.

By BBN Staff: Prime Minister John Briceno is visiting municipalities across the country leading up to the March 3rd municipal elections.

On Monday, Briceno was in Belmopan visiting the residents along with Belmopan Area Representative, Oscar Mira and mayoral candidate, Sharon Palacio.

Briceno said that he has listened and the people of Belmopan want a better direction with a council that is accountable to the people.

“They want a council that would be accountable to the people, that would be transparent in the work, a council that is going to work along with the Central Government not fighting with one another because we’re all in this together and we need to bring betterment for Belmopan,” Briceno said.

Meanwhile, Area Representative Oscar Mira emphasized that the residents of Belmopan want to see the Capital City move forward.

“ As the Prime Minister just mentioned, we want to work together, a PUP City Council, PUP area representative, and Central Government there’s no way that Belmopan will not move forward. We are very excited today and we’re thanking the Prime Minister very much for taking time out of his very very busy schedule – I know it’s coming to budget time and everybody is busy but we are thankful, all the campaigners are thankful that he can take out that time to come and campaign with us,” Mira said.
