COMMISSION OF INQUIRY: Car dealer Said Perdomo took charge of the Toyota Tacoma truck

Posted: Friday, February 26, 2021. 12:07 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: Car dealer Said Perdomo of Belize City, who was in charge of improving the Toyota Tacoma truck originally bought from the Government of Belize, detailed his dealings with the vehicle during this morning’s hearings.

Perdomo said he transferred the vehicle to his name as original owner Juvencio Herrera only wanted what he originally paid for the vehicle: approximately 66 thousand dollars.

Perdomo estimated he spent just over $3,000 to improve the vehicle, which had more than 40 thousand kilometers mileage, for sale and admitted he personally was interested in buying it.

But he denied any dealings with the Vehicle Care Unit, in particular, saying he only dealt with Ivan Leiva on Herrera’s behalf.

Perdomo noted that at least two others had expressed in buying, and on completion of the sale he repaid Herrera through Leiva. He did not know, he said, of the history of the vehicle.
