Worldometer: Almost 3 million new cases of COVID-19 worldwide in just a week

By BBN Staff: Worldometer is reporting that as of today, Sunday, February 28, 2021, there are over 114 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 worldwide, a difference of over three million when compared to last week.

The latest COVID-19 statistics puts the global infection count at 114,465,297, as opposed to the 111,729,153 recorded on Sunday, February 21, a difference of over 2.7 million. There are currently more than 21.8 million active cases with 90,571 (0.4%) of those considered serious/critical.

Global deaths related to the virus now stand at over 2.53 million, up from the 2.47 million recorded last week. Meanwhile, recoveries from the virus have gone up more than 3.2 million, putting recoveries at over 90 million as opposed to the over 86.8 million recorded last Sunday.

The United States continues to have the highest number of infections and deaths related to COVID-19 (over 29.2 million and 524,669 respectively). Last week confirmed cases and deaths in the US stood at over 28.7 million and 509,875 respectively.

In India, infections stood at 11.09 million while 157,087. Last week those statistics stood at 10.9 million confirmed cases and 156,339 deaths.

Infections in Brazil stood at 10.5 million while deaths were at 254,623, as opposed to last week’s count which showed 10.1 million infections and 246,006 deaths respectively.

In Belize, confirmed cases stood at 12,293 and deaths were at 315, while last week, the count was at 12,244 cases and 314 deaths respectively.
