Minister of Health & Wellness: Belize is ready!

Posted: Monday, March 1, 2021. 11:53 am CST.

By Aaron Humes: Minister of Health and Wellness Michel Chebat opened today’s briefing with a reminder of how far Belize has come.

As a result of the Government’s reorganization of the COVID-19 fight, the country has significantly reduced active infections and increased recoveries.

The first to be vaccinated, with the 1,000 doses donated by Barbados via India, will be health care workers, followed by the allocated 100,800 doses through the COVAX facility due at the end of the first quarter.

The Minister said that the plan being presented today is dynamic and dependent on how quickly vaccines get here.

Three volunteers will be publicly vaccinated, the first Belizeans in the country to be so vaccinated.

“I believe in the COVID-19 vaccine and I will be vaccinated when it is my turn,” Chebat further stated.
