By BBN Staff: Residents from Pickstock Street attacked a police officer on Sunday and two people, including an 11-year-old-girl, were injured as rubber bullets used in warning shots ricocheted.
Police were in the area and detained a 19-year-old male when a large crowd surrounded the officers and started throwing stones at the officers.
To deter the crowd, a member of the Precinct One Support Team fired warning shots, one of which ricocheted and hit Joshua Flowers, 22, in the mouth.
Officers from the Crimes Investigation Branch (CIB) took Flowers to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) for treatment. The 11-year-old girl injured in the incident was not taken to the hospital for treatment.
There is no word as yet if anyone will be charged for assaulting the officers.
