Machete wielding contrabandista shot in butt

By BBN Staff: On Monday, authorities conducting operations in Orange Walk noticed a white Ford pickup at the junction near Shipyard.

The driver of the van exited his vehicle with a machete in his hand.

Officers ordered the man to drop the machete and he refused. As he was advancing toward police, they fired a shot and hit him in the butt.

The man was identified as Freddy Pech,40, of  La Union (Mexico).

Pech was taken for medical treatment where he is admitted in a stable condition.

The van was transported to customs where they discovered an assortment of unaccustomed goods.
