By Aaron Humes: The Ministry of Health and Wellness reports that eight new confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been tallied, while 25 persons have been declared recovered.

Belize presently has just 117 active cases of the disease: nearly as many women (58) as men (59) live with the virus.

The eight positive results were from 450 tests done on as many persons, yielding a meager positivity rate of 1.78 percent.

Two persons remain hospitalized and two are in intensive care. With no new deaths, the total remains at 314 or 2.5 percent of the population.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness urges the public to wear a face mask properly in public, maintain consistent physical distancing, avoid social gatherings, and wash and sanitize hands often. Please be safe and stay at home unless conducting essential business.
