Slow start for voting in Belize City

Posted: Wednesday, March 3, 2021. 8:33 am CST.

By BBN Staff: It’s been a slow start to the Municipal Elections in Belize City this morning. Very few people are at the different polling stations.

Breaking Belize News (BBN) took a ride around the City just before the polls opened and right after. The Queen Square polling station at St. John’s on Euphrates Avenue had about 50 people waiting, and as they were allowed to, they filed in briskly. There was no one at Holy Redeemer on the Northside or at Grace Chapel on Amara Avenue and the Salvation Army on Cemetery Road on the Southside.

The YWCA had a few people before voting started but only one person was in line by 7:20 a.m. Even the workers for the two parties were just setting up in some areas.

As the day goes by and the political parties get their people out, things should pick.
