By BBN Staff: The Caribbean Women in Leadership (CIWiL) Belize National Chapter today extended congratulations to Elvia Vega-Samos and Mayor Sheran “Sharon” Palacio on their historic wins as the first female area representative for Corozal Bay and first female mayor for the capital city of Belmopan respectively.

“We also recognize all the female candidates who contested in this year’s municipal elections and congratulate all the women who will now serve as councilors in their municipalities,” CIWiL added.

CIWiL extended well wishes to Elvia Samos, Mayor Sheran Palacio, and all the female councilors’ successful tenures in their respective roles.

CIWiL Belize says that it is heartened by the election of this diverse group of women and applaud another important step toward advancing women’s representation in positions of leadership and decision-making in Belize.

CIWiL Belize pledges to continue to keep the national community informed of planned activities, events, and ongoing developments within the Chapter.
