By BBN Staff: CIBC First Caribbean bank will assist 10 countries in acquiring COVID-19 vaccines with a donation of US $500,000.

The donation is aimed at boosting vaccination programs in atleast 10 Caribbean nations.

The bank’s charitable arm, First Caribbean International ComTrust Foundation will support the purchase of vaccines in Antigua, Bahamas, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, St Kitts, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines and Trinidad and Tobago.

In addition, the bank is contributing US $250,000 to cover the cost of vaccinating members of its staff.

“Vaccination remains one of the key weapons in the arsenal against COVID-19 and we are delighted to assist governments and public health officials in ensuring that everyone who wants the vaccine can have access to it,” Chief Executive Officer of the bank and Chair of the foundation Colette Delaney.

Delaney said that the global community and medical experts have made great strides in the past year in response to COVID-19.

They also re-emphasized the importance of getting vaccinated.

Delaney also commended all frontline workers across the region.

The bank had also donated US $250,000 last March to assist in the fight against COVID-19.
