BREAKING: 25,000 COVID-19 vaccines donated by India to reach Belize on Monday

Posted: Sunday, March 7, 2021. 10:15 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: The Ministry of Health and Wellness says tonight that the donated COVID-19 vaccines from India that were due last week will instead arrive tomorrow, Monday, March 8, 2021, at the Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport.

The 25,000 vaccines are a donation made possible by the people and Government of India.

Minister Michel Chebat along with representatives of the Ministry and members of the Indian community of Belize will be on hand to receive the donation.

The Ministry also reports that the COVID-19 Vaccination Exercise will continue this week with the remaining frontline health workers.

The public is encouraged to get vaccinated when the opportunity arises. Please take note of the vaccination locations and phases of the rollout. The Ministry reminds the public that even after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, persons are to continue to follow the COVID-19 guidelines: wear masks properly in public, maintain social distancing and wash and sanitize hands often. Please stay at home and call the Ministry’s hotline at 0-800-664-2273 for more information.
