What do you FEAR?

1)  Social Phobia

2)  Fear of Heights

3)  Fear of bugs, snakes, or spiders

4)  Fear of closed spaces

5)  Fear of flying

6)  Fear of the dark

7)  Fear of getting a disease

8)  Fear of blood

9)  Fear of violent weather

10)  Fear of dying

You may have experienced one or more of the fears listed above.

Sadly, this survey showed that people were more afraid of people (“social phobia”) than they were about death itself!

10 out of 10 people will die.

No one escapes death.

One day …you …will …DIE.

Shouldn’t we be more concerned about the day we will DIE; than about how many people may crowd around us, a bug which may bite us, the darkness of night, or even getting covid?

What people should truly fear isn’t even on the list.

What should we fear most?

Government?

Covid?

Murderers?

Loss of job?

NONE OF THE ABOVE.

We are to fear GOD HIMSELF. Yes, we are to fear Our Creator who Sovereignly rules and reigns over His entire creation (to include the fears listed above). He is in full control of His creation.

Do you fear God?

For the unbeliever, the fear of God is the fear of the judgment of God and eternal death, which is eternal separation from God…

“But I will warn you whom to fear: fear Him who, after He has killed, has authority to cast into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear Him!” –Luke 12:5

“It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” –Hebrews 10:31

The believer’s fear is reverence of God…

“Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.” –Hebrews 12:28-29

This reverence and awe is the motivating factor for us to surrender to the Creator of the Universe.

Proverbs 1:7 declares, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge.” Until we understand who God is and develop a reverential fear of Him, we cannot have true wisdom. True wisdom comes only from understanding who God is and that He is Holy, Righteous, and Just. It’s the understanding of how much God hates sin.

Sin is transgression (breaking) of the law. All have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. The wages of sin is death.

God hates sin because it misrepresents Who He is.

God is not a liar.

God is not a thief.

God is not a murderer.

God is not a fornicator.

God is not an adulterer.

God is not a drunkard.

He is Holy, Righteous and Just.

Do you fear Him?

“Although a sinner does evil a hundred times and may lengthen his life, still I know that it will be well for those who fear God, who fear Him openly. But it will not be well for the evil man and he will not lengthen his days like a shadow, because he does not fear God.” –Ecclesiastes 8:12-13

Have you turned (repented) from your sins against Him and trusted His Son Jesus Christ ALONE to save you?

He warns us that “as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” (Heb 9:27).

He will justly judge all sinners righteously on that day.

That’s why you need a Savior. He who knew no sin became sin so that we might become the righteousness of Christ.

JESUS CHRIST the Just and Justifier. He is the Only One who can declare you guiltless on that day.

He commands you to repent and believe the Gospel.

It’s a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

How will you escape if you neglect so great a salvation?

A true Fear of God will cause such a reverence for Him that your life will be changed.

Those who fear God will respect Him, obey Him, submit to Him, and worship Him in awe.

“But for you who fear My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings; and you will go forth and skip about like calves from the stall.” -Malachi 4:2

Friends, we love you enough to tell you the truth. Today 150,000 people will die (globally). Your day has already been appointed by God. Make sure you’re ready. If you will not repent, you will perish in your sins. Repent and turn to Christ before it’s too late!
