Newly elected councils engaged in orientation sessions

By BBN Staff: Nine mayors and their elected councilors are engaged in orientation sessions with the Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour, and Local Government.

The sessions are being facilitated by the Ministry.

The purpose is to introduce the necessary information that the councils will need to work effectively.

The sessions entail a review of the relevant legislation, powers, and duties of councils, financial management, and reporting.

The schedule for the orientation sessions is as follows:

Dangriga Town Council – Tuesday, March 9th – 9:00 a.m.

Punta Gorda Town Council – Wednesday, March 10th – 9:00 a.m.

Benque Viejo Town Council – Thursday, March 11th – 9:00 a.m.

San Ignacio and Santa Elena Town Council – Friday, March 12th – 9:00 a.m.

Orange Walk Town Council – Tuesday, March 16th – 9:00 a.m.

Corozal Town Council – Wednesday, March 17th – 9:00 a.m.

San Pedro Town Council – Thursday, March 18th – 9:00 a.m.

Belize City Council – Friday, March 19th – 9:00 a.m.

Belmopan City Council – Monday, March 22nd – 9:00 a.m.
