Belize City Council announces portfolios, Allan Pollard Jr. appointed deputy mayor

By BBN Staff: At a caucus held Thursday, the Belize City Council appointed Allan Pollard Jr. as deputy mayor. According to the Belize City Council, apart from his duties as deputy mayor, Pollard will be in charge of Works, Infrastructure, Urban Development, and Labour Relations.

Mayor Bernard Wagner holds the portfolios of Finance and Administration, Budgeting, Human Resources, CARILED, and Anti-corruption.

In an all-encompassing Belize City move, the other nine councilors have been assigned the following portfolios.

Micah Goodin is in charge of Sanitation, Maintenance, and Community Development.

Albert Vaughan will take care of Traffic Management and Security while Javier Castellanos will lead Market Management and Special Constables.

As would be expected Kaya Cattouse has been charged with Youth and Sports, but has also been made responsible for MIS, Staff Development and Training, and Wellness and E-Governance.

Public Health, Cemetery, Parks and Playgrounds, and Beautification are portfolios assigned to Michael Novelo.

Tourism has been assigned to Stephanie Hamilton who has also been assigned Diaspora Relations, Zoning and Planning, and Building Unit.

Natasha Pipersburgh will take care of the Municipal Court, CEMO, Climate Change, Disaster and Risk Management, Women and Children, and Non-Governmental Organizations.

Edmund Kwan will have control of the portfolios of Local Economic Development, Trade and Investment, and Small and New Business.

For her part, Deannie Requena will manage Foreign Affairs and Sister City Relations, After School Programs, Public Relations, and Special Events.
