Former Minister of Human Development, “Boots” Martinez named in Commission of Inquiry investigation for purchase of government truck

By BBN Staff: The ongoing Commission of Inquiry into the sale of government assets continued this week with several witnesses called to testify about a complicated business transaction involving former Minister Hugo Patt and a Toyota Tacoma truck. Among the revelations of the ongoing Commission of Inquiry, it was revealed that former Minister Anthony ‘Boots’ Martinez purchased a 2015 Ford F-150 pickup truck for $15,000.

Chairman of the commission, Andrew Marshalleck, in an interview with the media following the session, said that the investigation thus far has indicated that a number of vehicles were listed as “unserviceable” when they were in fact in working order.

Marshalleck said simply whenever there was a desire to sell an asset, “they just called it unserviceable and sell them.”

“I have the list, there are lots of people on the list. Item 10 is Mr. Martinez, he bought a 2015 F-150 for $15,000. That was in August 2020,” Marshalleck said.

Marshalleck said that the commission will also be looking at those transactions.
