Minister of Health and Wellness vaccinated for COVID-19

Posted: Friday, March 12, 2021. 4:58 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: Michel Chebat, Minister of Health and Wellness, today received his first dose of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 Vaccine at the Western Regional Hospital Flu Clinic, Belmopan.

This makes him the first parliamentarian and Cabinet Minister to be vaccinated for the disease.

An official statement says nurses of the Maternal and Child Health Unit first briefed Minister Chebat with a health education session on the vaccine after which he received the vaccination.

Thereafter, the Minister waited the required 15 minutes to be monitored for any immediate side effects before departing the clinic, having shown none.

The Minister expressed his gratitude for receiving his first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and complimented the nurses for the smooth execution of the process.

Minister Chebat continues to encourage the public to take the vaccine when it’s their turn.

Presently, senior citizens are up for vaccinations to be followed by other frontline workers.
