By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Ministry of Health and Wellness today reported 61 active COVID-19 cases in the country.
The Ministry’s daily report said that though 12 news cases were confirmed, there were 15 recoveries dropping the total from 64 to 61.
Of these 61, 31 are women and 30 are men.
There are two persons with COVID-19 hospitalized countrywide.
No deaths were reported today.
So far, since the start of the pandemic last year, 12,370 cases have been reported. 11,987 persons are reported as having recovered.
Overall, 6,240 men have been infected compared to 5,747 women.
Total, Belize has had 316 deaths, 208 men and 108 women.
The Ministry of Health and Wellness said it has started its COVID19 vaccine campaign countrywide and encourages all to get vaccinated.
However, the Ministry of Health and Wellness reminds everyone that “even after getting vaccinated, persons are to continue wearing a face mask properly in public, maintain consistent physical distancing, avoid social gatherings, and wash and sanitize hands often. Please be safe and stay at home unless conducting essential business.”
