Belize Tourism Board reportedly parts ways with Director Karen Bevans

By Aaron Humes: Director of Tourism, Karen Bevans, has reportedly exited her post at the Belize Tourism Board.

BBN has confirmed that staff was informed of the change in a meeting on Friday afternoon.

The Ministry of Tourism is believed to be making a formal statement on Monday.

Bevans moved over to the BTB from Telemedia several years ago and recently renewed her contract; however, she ran into friction with the current administration after allegations of libel on a radio station on which she filed a lawsuit.

It is not clear whether Bevans resigned or was terminated and what happens to her lawsuit.

Bevans presided over one of Belize’s most productive periods in tourism, as overnight and cruise ship visits reached all-time highs and the industry became Belize’s richest.
