Posted: Monday, March 15, 2021. 3:07 pm CST.

By Zoila Palma: The Corozal Town Council issued a statement today condemning the act of vandalism that occurred sometime between last night and this morning at the Children’s Park on 1st Avenue in Corozal.

The council noted that an unknown individual or individuals damaged one of the animal figures, which was recently painted as part a beautification project by the Rotary Club of Corozal that has adopted the park.

The Rotary Club of Corozal also recently built two palapas on the park, to add much-needed amenities to the public facility.

The council reminds that the Children’s Park is popular for families for the animal characters that adorn the park.

“The Council takes acts of vandalism very seriously and will investigate with the objective of holding anyone who participated in the act accountable,” the council asserted.

In addition, the council calls on the community to join in condemning such actions and assist in reporting vandalism to the proper authorities.
