COVID-19 cases nearing 120 million worldwide

By Ruben Morales Iglesias: Confirmed COVID-19 cases around the world are now at 119,913,953; according to John Hopkins University in the United States.

Numbers-wise, the United States, Brazil and India are the top three countries in the number of cases reported while the United States, Brazil, and Mexico are the top three in the number of deaths.

The United States has reported the highest number of cases at 29,438,781 cases which is nearly 25 percent of the total worldwide figure. Brazil has confirmed 11,483,370 and India right behind with 11,385,339 million.

Worldwide 2,654,629 deaths have been recorded. The United States’ death toll stands at nearly one-fifth of that number at 534,889 deaths. Brazil is second in the category with its death toll of 278,229.

Though Mexico is 12th in confirmed cases at 2,166,290, the neighboring country is third in the death toll category with 194,710 reported. India follows in fourth at 158,725.

So far, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,135,847,835 COVID-19 vaccines have been delivered out of which 107,060,274 vaccines have been administered; 69,884,210 people having received at least one dose and 37,459,269 people have gotten both.
