Minister of Blue Economy and Civil Aviation meets with U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires, British High Commissioner

By Ruben Morales Iglesias: Minister of the Blue Economy and Civil Aviation, Andre Perez, started off the week with meetings with Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy Keith Gilges and British High Commissioner to Belize Claire Evans to discuss the Ministry’s vision and contribution to Belize’s economic growth.

The Blue Economy Ministry said that during his meetings on Monday, March 15, Minister Perez “discussed department goals under the Ministry of Blue Economy and explored how each sector contributes to the production of work under the new Ministry’s vision.”

The Blue Economy Ministry said he also discussed “the importance of tourism with respect to economic growth and its potential for development in new innovative areas to expand the tourism sector as well as the enforcement of maritime laws and the security of sea space.”

During his meeting with the American and British diplomats, they looked at the Ministry’s development in future years. Perez reiterated his Ministry’s “commitment to the development of the tourism sector and sustainable use of environmental resources to ensure Belize’s safety.”

Minister Perez was accompanied by Kennedy Carrillo, CEO of the Ministry of Blue Economy and Civil Aviation, while the British High Commissioner was joined by Maxine Monsanto, Climate Change Policy Adviser at the British High Commission.
