By Zoila Palma: The Ministry of Health and Wellness has issued a statement saying that the statements made by Caribbean Motors claiming that the Ministry did not follow due process in acquiring vehicles is “untrue” and “misleading.”
The company claimed that the bidding process was not followed in the procurement of six (6) vehicles for the Ministry of Health and Wellness.
“This is a false statement which was intentionally made to undermine and to cause public disdain,” the Ministry stated.
The Ministry says that through the Project Management Unit, it obtained seven (7) quotations from different companies.
According to the Ministry, the quotes were evaluated and recommendations made to the Ministry of Finance who had no objection to the award of contract.
The Ministry says that it followed all prescribed procedures in relation to the procurement process.
“It is unfortunate that Caribbean Motors, who has been the beneficiary of Government contracts would seek to defame the MOHW and denigrate a small Belizean business in this manner,” it ended.
