Murder by ambush on Elston Kerr Street: Tyrique Gentle killed

By Aaron Humes: 22-year-old Tyrique Gentle was found shot to death on Tuesday night after his killers ambushed him and a friend in a yard on Elston Kerr Street.

Gentle, of Antelope Street Extension, was with one Kareem Fisher who lives at the corner with Pitter Street, getting a bucket filled with water from a hose pipe. Fisher left Gentle to go smoke in the back of the yard.

But his plans were interrupted by a tall, dark-skinned man who opened fire on him. He ran back out toward the street side.

Gentle, meanwhile, was accosted by another armed man and shot multiple times as he fled into the yard. The two culprits escaped in a white van that was seen driving toward Partridge Street.

Gentle died on the spot of his injuries before he could be taken to hospital, police say. Their investigations continue.
