New online employment service system launched

Posted: Thursday, March 18, 2021. 3:16 pm CST.

By Zoila Palma: The Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour and Local Government has launched the new online Employment Services System (ESS).

The system was developed by the Central Information Technology Office (CITO).

It will allow persons to fill out documents online for the collection and processing of unemployment information.

The Ministry said that the ESS system will also capture vacancy information from employers and match it with the education, experience and skills of job seekers.

The ESS has the capability to generate statistics and pre-defined reports by demographics, geographic locations, industries, and job types.

“The ESS plays a pivotal role in balancing labor supply and demand, as employment opportunities will be able to fill the gaps in the different sectors of the economy. The Ministry applauds the strong tripartite relationship that is shared between the Ministry and other government entities in working towards job creation and job preservation to rebuild industries for the benefit of all Belizeans,” the ministry expressed.

Present at the launch were Oscar Requena, Minister of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour and Local Government; Valentino Shal, Chief Executive Officer; staff of the Labour Department; and stakeholders involved in the development of the online ESS.

Employers and job seekers can visit the system here.
