Belize City man charged for Wednesday’s double murder

By Benjamin Flowers: Police have charged a Belize City man for the double murder of Cynthia Conorquie, 49, and Allen Garcia, 21 that occurred on Wednesday, March 17.

Richard Mervin Bennett, 23, was formally arrested and charged with two counts of murder today.

Reports are that both victims were at Conorquie’s home on Logwood Street, when the shooter walked into her yard and opened fire, fatally wounding them both.

The incident was one of several violent crimes that took place that night, which prompted an escalated response from police.
