Belize’s Ambassador to the Republic of China (Taiwan) Dr. Candice Pitts meets with Taiwan’s Central America Trade Office

By Ruben Morales Iglesias: Ambassador of Belize to the Republic of China (Taiwan), Dr. Candice Pitts met with the representatives of Central America Trade Office (CATO) in Taipei, Taiwan in what was described as ‘a productive video conference.’

The meeting was convened by CATO to discuss with Ambassador Dr. Pitts the events and activities related to Belize.

“CATO has established an effective and meaningful partnership with Belize; I am grateful and look forward to all we will achieve through our collaborative efforts,” Dr. Pitts said.

These are three-fold: “1) Belize’s Tourism, Culture, and Image Promotion in Taiwan; 2) Investment Promotion and Strategic Alliance between Belize and Taiwan; and 3) Trade Promotion between Belize and Taiwan.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Immigration said, “the events and activities discussed revealed promising opportunities for further cultural and economic developments between both countries.”

CATO is an arm of the Taiwan government under their Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is charged with overseeing the affairs between the four Central American countries and Taiwan, through the offices of their respective ambassadors. Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua are represented in CATO.
