Butane Distributors blame National Gas Company for butane shortage

Posted: Friday, March 19, 2021. 2:19 pm CST.

By Zoila Palma: Today, butane distributors, Gas Tomza, Z Gas, and BWEL issued a statement informing of a butane shortage in Belize.

“This week we are experiencing a shortage of Gas from National Gas Company Limited. Our fear is that at any time now we will not be able to receive product to supply the people of Belize and we are leaving National Gas company fully responsible of this act,” the companies said in a statement.

In addition, the companies say that there is a high demand of gas within the Mennonite Community to dry their grain. Due to the shortage, the gas is not reaching on time and their grains are being lost due to not drying on time.

“So Far National Gas Company have not informed us the reason why of the shortage of our product and why delivering less than what the three distributors have ordered. We have also alerted the BBS of the shortages,” the companies stated.

The companies say they are waiting for the national gas company to solve the issue as soon as possible.
