Saul Barrera heads newly formed Belize Golf Federation

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize Amateur Golf Association and the Belize Golf Association got together and formed the new Belize Golf Federation (BGF) at a meeting held on Saturday, March 6, 2021.

The BGF said Saul Barrera was unanimously chosen as Chairperson for a period of four years.

The members of the two founding associations “discussed and agreed on all aspects of the constitution that will govern the now newly established Belize Golf Federation.”

Tim Heath was voted Vice-Chairman. Pete Allen is the Secretary, while Rene Reyes is the Treasurer.

Julia Towers is the Chair of the Handicap Committee and Steve Hack is the Tournament Director.

The BGF said that “with these appointments now formalized, we are forecasting a year filled with activities in gold of all categories: men, women, and youths. We are more than happy and it brings us great pleasure to be the driving force in innovating and growing this sport in our country Belize.”

Golf tournaments, for a number of years now, have normally been held at the Roaring River Golf Course.
