Over 90 purified water producers in Belize

By Zoila Palma: Today, the Ministry of Health and Wellness joined the world in commemorating World Water day 2021.

The day is being commemorated under the theme “Valuing water”.

“We extend appreciation to our National Water Lab staff and join in the commemoration of this day,” the Ministry said.

In addition, the Ministry shared that there are 92 purified water producers with the largest number of these producers in the Orange Walk, Belize and Cayo Districts.

The United Nations General Assembly designated March 22, 1993 as the first World Water Day.

The day is commemorated to raise awareness of the 2.2 billion people living without access to safe water. It is about taking action to tackle the global water crisis.

Belize’s Ministry of Natural Resources noted that the water day planning committee is inviting everyone to share what water means to them.

Water carries different values to everyone and local experiences should be highlighted, the Ministry noted.
