Tree planting ceremony held in San Ignacio for Forest Day 2021

The theme of the International Day of Forests for 2021 is “Forest restoration: a path to recovery and well-being.”

The restoration and sustainable management of forests help address the climate change and biodiversity crises.

The day is commemorated to raise awareness of the importance of forest types throughout the world.

Mayor of San Ignacio and Santa Elena, Earl Trapp attended a tree-planting ceremony at the Macal Park to celebrate and highlight the importance of Belize’s forest.

Trapp was accompanied by councilors Matthew Preston and Zahir Figueroa.

The tree planting was held by the Forestry Department.
