By BBN Staff: On Tuesday, March 23, 2021, the Toledo Cacao Growers Association informed that a total of 10 metric tons of cacao beans were loaded and will be exported to the United States of America.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise noted that more than 200 active subsistence farmers (primarily in the Toledo and South Stann Creek Districts) are engaged in cacao production.
Members of the association are from 55 communities that produce over 50 tons of cacao beans annually.
“The Toledo Cacao Growers Association ensures that farmers have the adequate skills to cultivate, ferment and dry cacao beans desired by the market,” the Ministry expressed.
