By Zoila Palma: On Wednesday, March 23, 2021, Cabinet met and discussed union budget consultations and the re-opening of classes among other national matters.
The Government of Belize’s Union Budget Consultation Team updated Cabinet on its response to the unions’ latest correspondence and its intent to continue further discussions in good faith.
In addition, Cabinet approved the plan from the Ministry of Education for the phased return to face-to-face instruction of schools at all levels and sectors across the country beginning April 12, 2021.
Today, the Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Education sent a memo to all general managers, pre-primary, primary schools, chairpersons, secondary schools, ITVETS, district education managers and president of the Belize National Teachers Union, informing that schools will be reopening in two groups with Group 1 opening on April 12, and Group 2 reopening on May 10.
