New Belize training institute to focus on skill development

By Zoila Palma: Today, Department of Youth Services, Ministry of Youth, Sports, and E-Governance, informed of the formation of the Belize Training Institute.

The Belize Training Institute was developed from an amalgamation of existing youth training institutes namely the National Youth Cadet Service Corps, Gateway Youth Center, the Skills Training Center, and the National 4H Youth Development Center.

“To effectively bring structure to this institute, the framework of the Center for Employment Training (CET) module will be implemented. This will allow participating youth to transition to the Institute for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ITVET) at the completion of their curriculum at the Belize Training Institute,” the ministry noted.

Coordinators of the amalgamated institutes participated in a training on the CET module hosted by Dr. Sheldon Samuels, National Coordinator of Adult Continuing Education Services (ACES).

The Ministry says that the Belize Training Institute will be a nationally offered service accessible in all regions of the country.
