Team Belize conducts first training today in the Dominican Republic

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: With the entire team, except for six members of technical staff, already in Santo Domingo, the Belize Men’s National Football Team will this afternoon conduct their first training session on Dominican soil in preparation for Tuesday’s match.

All the players plus head coach Dale Pelayo and assistant coach Marvin Ottley travelled to the Dominican Republic on two different flights yesterday. Ottley and nine players took the 11:00 a.m. flight while Pelayo and the remaining 12 players did so at 3:00 p.m.

They spent the evening very relaxed at their hotel in Santo Domingo as opposed to their first day in Haiti.

The other six members of the technical staff take a morning flight from Port-au-Prince today.

Belize will play their “home” game against Turks and Caicos Islands in the Qatar World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at the Estadio Panamericano in San Cristóbal on the outskirts of Santo Domingo.

With the withdrawal of St. Lucia, Belize has only one game left in the WC qualifiers in June. That’s going to be an away game against Nicaragua.
