Regional tech conference CaribNog 2021, to be held virtually this week

Posted: Sunday, March 28, 2021. 5:47 pm CST.

By Benjamin Flowers: The Caribbean Network Operators Group (CaribNOG) will be holding its 21’st regional meeting this week under the theme “Network Infrastructure Security.”

The two-day, virtual gathering of information technology professionals from the Caribbean, which is geared towards improving the region’s networks, expanding the technical capacity of those who build and secure them, and strengthening the interconnections among all actors in the Internet space, will be held on March 30-31.

The event is being supported by the American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN) in collaboration with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and the Internet Registry for Latin America and the Caribbean (LACNIC). The conference will address two critical topics: “Network Security Best Practices – assessing your network for vulnerabilities, protecting your networks from attacks,” and “DNS and DNSSEC – Getting the most from the DNS Root Service.”

“CaribNOG21 and will provide participants with the opportunity to network virtually, and gain actionable insights into the technical elements of Network Infrastructure Security. Presentations will be delivered by expert panelists and speakers from around the region and across the world, and the meeting will also feature in-depth, hands-on technical training sessions,” CaribNOG said.

The organization explained that the upcoming conference follows an “unprecedented year,” as the quality, resilience, and security of computer networks was highlighted all over the region. CaribNOG also stressed that the community played an important role in supporting the rapid transition to online services across the region, though targeted efforts aimed at building human resource capacity in areas such as cybersecurity, autonomous networks, Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) deployments, and interconnection and peering.
