By Benjamin Flowers: The Belize Tourism Board (BTB) is celebrating COPA Airlines’ announcement made this week, that the airline plans to resume its weekly flight from Panama City to Belize in June 2021.
“The BTB has maintained strong relationships with its international airline partners throughout the COVID pandemic and continues to seek opportunities to further expand accessibility to the destination. COPA’s resumption of service will create new opportunities to promote and sell the destination to key markets within South America and Europe,” the BTB said.
The BTB added that the full details on the resumption of flights will be shared in the coming weeks.
COPA Airlines, which operates in 75 cities and 31 countries in North, Central, and South America and the Caribbean, began offering flights to Belize back in December 2015. As global travel shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, COPA, like all other airlines, had to drastically reduce its output and suspended the Belize-bound flights.
The resumption comes at a time when global travel is slowly making a comeback, and Belize’s tourism sector is priming itself to make a comeback as well.
