Belmopan suburbs and South Stann Creek hit by new cases of COVID-19

By Aaron Humes: The suburbs of the capital Belmopan and villages in South Stann Creek were the epicenter of this weekend’s COVID-19 cases.

One case each was detected in Las Flores, Salvapan and Maya Mopan, as well as the outlying village of Armenia; San Ignacio Town saw two.

Meanwhile, in Stann Creek, Dangriga Town had two cases, Independence one, Red Bank one and South Stann Creek one respectively. The twelfth case was in Orange Walk Town.

Mainland Belize District now has 3,131 confirmed cases of COVID-19; Cayo District, 2,535; Orange Walk District, 2,449; Corozal District, 1,601; Stann Creek, 1,379; Toledo, 793; and Ambergris Caye, 564.

Belizeans are reminded to keep to the protocols of handwashing, social distancing and mask-wearing and to take advantage of the opportunity to vaccinate oneself when it is your turn.
